It was merely a year ago that Jordan Brand and the University of Michigan joined forces to outfit the first-ever college football team with Jumpman football uniforms.
Now, in honor of the university’s 150-year-old maize and blue colors, UM alum Dao-Yi Chow (PSNY co-founder) has teamed up with Jordan Brand on a special release of Jordan XII and travel gear for the Wolverines football team.
According to Chow, this collaboration is tailored towards the needs of the players and coaches. In particular, PSNY has updated head Coach Jim Harbaugh’s Kirkland khakis with a more stylish look (No offense, Coach, but those Kirkland khakis just don’t match well with the Jumpman).
The gear is derived from the 11-piece PSNY x Jordan Brand Capsule Collection that debuted during the New York Fashion week, which includes hooded pull-over and sweatpants all in Michigan blue with maize color logos.
This unique Air Jordan 12 features a handsome blue nubuck upper, but it is unlikely that any of us common folk will be able to buy it. The maize “M” is seen on the right tongue while the blue Jumpman is featured on the left. The maize pull tabs, PSNY embroidery, and number 23 on the heels wrap up this special collaboration with the Wolverines.
“This collab is unique because you’re doing it with the players and coaches in mind. Meeting coach (Harbaugh) was crazy. He’s this larger than life personality. Ultimately him being a Michigan man and coming back to the school, it’s the same thing with me,” said Chow in a statement. “To be able to team up with U of M, Jordan and my own brand; just building that capsule with my history, that’s something that’s super special to me.”
There is no official word as to whether this collection will release to the public but it seems unlikely. If you’re at UM keep an eye on the store on campus.
