Supra has just introduced the “brand new” Supra Quattro…and it’s official, Supra suffers from line extension. It is a common phenomenon these days, just look at Samsung and their mobile devices. “Line extension” occurs when a company has a product in a category that does well. Upon the success of that product, the company makes more products in that same category. In the short term this makes money. However, in the long term the similar products in the same category from the same company end up competing and this waters down the brand.
Supra has made many low cut, stylish, interesting shoes. Some were for skating, others for casual wear/running, but almost all of them were able to do some of both casual wear and skating. Adding yet another silhouette that is so similar to others Supra already offers could be a problem in the future…we’ll see.
As for tech specs, the Quattro features suede and leather, sandwich mesh, a padded mesh lining, a SUPRAFOAM midsole, and that classic ‘S’ traction pattern many love. Supra says the latest silhouette is:
A modern low top with a distinctive eye stay and long, clean vamp. Perforations at the quarter and reinforced stitching provide added ventilation and durability while a beveled SUPRAFOAM midsole prevents compression wrinkles while absorbing impact.
Retail is set at $85 and that’s a pretty nice price point. The latest Supra low top is available now here. So, what do you think about the new Supra Quattro? Share your thoughts below.
