Highsnobiety got an inside look at Le Coq Sportif’s Made in France program and it is truly a great film. One of the oldest names in the business, LCS was founded in the late 1800s. Although a product branded with a rooster didn’t appear until 1948, LCS has always had high quality standards. Now, they are bringing back their most iconic silhouette of all time, the Arthur Ashe.
Highsnobiety headed to Romans-sur-Isère in southeastern France to get a look at how an Arthur Ashe is made, from start to finish. Of course they begin with incredibly high quality leather and then skilled artisans take it from there. I find a certain comfort knowing that middle aged French seamstresses have a large part in constructing these shoes; my grandmother is a French seamstress, albeit past middle age, but she has worked wonders for many of my shoes and clothes.
The Arthur Ashe originally released in 1964 and was designed for tennis. This time around LCS has collaborated with colette, the Parisian sneaker boutique, to create a gorgeous woven leather Arthur Ashe in colette’s favorite color scheme. Le Coq Sportif is also re-releasing the original Arthur Ashe in true white full-grain leather. The colette Arthur Ashe will be limited to 55 pairs while the Arthur Ashe in Full White will be limited to 136 pairs. The colette x Le Coq Sportif Arthur Ashe is set to release at colette on January 12 and the Arthur Ashe ‘Full White’ is set to release on January 19 to more boutiques globally like Hanon, Footpatrol, Sneakersnstuff, Slam Jam, Sneaker 76, Antonioli, Back Door, Titolo, Limited Editions, Cabinet Noir, Up There and colette.
Be sure to check out the video below as well as detailed photos of the colette x Le Coq Sportif Arthur Ashe. Shouts to Highsnobiety and Jordan Buck for creating this excellent film.
Seeing this, it makes one not want to spend money on Nike shoes, ever again.
Thank you for seeing the message. I wholeheartedly agree.
