Get an Official Look at the Air Jordan 12 Retro ‘Wings’

If you thought the Air Jordan 12 Retro ‘Wings’ was just a ‘Playoff’ version of the shoe with gold hits then think again. These guys have something hidden beneath the surface.

While they look plain on the outside, under the black leather is gold. The more the shoe is worn the more age or distress you’ll see. Not that many people buying the shoe will be rocking them. You know how it goes, straight to eBay or back in the box for safe keeping — *MJ Shoulder shrug.*

If you were unaware of the special treatment the ‘Wings’ edition received then join the club as Jordan Brand was able to keep this a secret until they officially unveiled the shoe today. Check out the detailed below and share your thoughts on the ‘Wings’ Air Jordan 12 Retro in the comment section.

The shoe is set to release in very limited numbers on April 2 for $225.

The pressure and discomfort involved in growing and eventually being capable of flying, like his Airness on the court, requires hard work to achieve such a feat. To fly, one also needs wings. The Air Jordan XII ‘Wings’ brings this to life as the black upper reveals gold wings after being wiped, agitated, and rubbed on its natural surface. The man behind the Jumpman earned his wings time and time again in the Jordan XII – most notably in an iconic 38 point performance in Utah while being weighed down by a stomach virus. Earn your own wings in this latest Jordan XII model. – Jordan Brand

  1. They’re $225 according to Nike… I guess an extra $35 for the gold touches. Makes me bummed I missed the masters, shoulda set the alarm.

  2. Did they just ruin a classic? I sure think so. Plus, the materials look so cheap and 12s generally have good materials.

  3. I’d wear these. It’s a new take if you’re gonna be rocking a pair that creases or soles that yellow over time, might as well have a change in the colors/design.

I think it was KICKS or SLAM that published an article back then on how the jumpman logo became what it is now and I remember a seeing a similar logo (among other sketches or concepts). I think that version had a basketball for a head.

  4. I thought that the black part looked strange before, I guess now we know that is from paint that is designed to wipe away. The Playoff 12s are my favorite Jordans but these are not worth it to me.

  5. How g*y. Amazing looking 12s that I’m not gonna get because of a stupid gimmick. Why would nike think it’s a good idea. Smh
