In 2016 all of the big sportswear brands dove headfirst into knits, and I’m sure 2017 will see all the other brands follow. Asics has been updating its silhouettes with knit, but now, it has a brand new knit model: the Gel-Lyte Komachi.
This is the first women’s-exclusive model from the Japanese brand. Influenced by the iconic Gel-Lyte V, but lacking the bootie construction, the Gel-Lyte Komachi utilizes a heathered Jacquard mesh knit to create a casual sneaker with a sporty look. The synthetic leather overlays and white midsole add a bit of old school flavor.
While this latest model does carry the Gel-Lyte nomenclature, Gel units are not mentioned in the product description for this sneaker. Thus, the tooling could just be straight EVA, without that Gel comfort.
The Asics Gel-Lyte Komachi is available now in three colorways at AsicsTiger.com for $80 (women’s sizes 5.5 to 11.5).
Would you like these, or something similar, in men’s sizing? Let us know.

Nice design. I would want a pair if they made a men’s version.
Same! But I really want to know if there is an actual Gel unit in there…
