Today, Fila announced that it would be collaborating with Las Vegas’ Institution 18b to launch a new take on the FILA T-1 Mid.
The inspiration for the collaboration comes from current events happening in the worlds of art, culture, and music, all of which are at the forefront of Institution’s mission statement.
“Institution was formed to establish an energetic influence within the Las Vegas service industry fueled town, all while leveraging many aspects of verge culture to identify with customers & enthusiasts in a true and classic way,” reads the shop’s mission statement. “We’d like to let it be known that you can’t fully absorb culture, be it style, vernacular, art, design, tech, or music — solely from a blog or popular social media platform.”
“We are taking what’s happening in the larger cities in terms of cultural activations and forward thinking events, curating a genuine Las Vegas perspective and serving it to you at INS,” the statement concluded.
With all that in mind, the Fila xInstitution 18b T-1 Mid comes in a black/white colorway that is meant to reflect Institution 18b’s retail space; the sneaker has accenting that mimics “the asphalt, stucco building, and the white paint interior” of the store. The sneaker also features a printed ivory flag, with additional ivory eyelets and waxed laces.
Additionally, the T-1 Mid’s interior has also been reworked, this time with a soft leather lining and the usual Fila branding on the leather tongue. An RBG woven tab is also on the tongue, with Institution branding embroidered on the leather heel tab of the shoe.
Finally, the insole is co-branded while the translucent midsole/outsole features Institution’s motto “DONE DEAL” on the bottom.
The Fila x Institution 18b T-1 Mid is set to drop on August 14 on fila.com and on institution18b.com, though no price has been announced.
