Embedded Cord Lacing Makes a Better adidas NMD R1 @RandytheCobbler

If you were a fan of the recently released adidas NMD R1 but didn’t love the nubby plastic lacing system, there’s an alternative. Created by the seasoned hands of talented sneaker customizer Randy the Cobbler, this new system is elegant and will probably provide far better lockdown — because if you’ve worn any Boost-equipped sneakers you know that they can be unstable at times.

Randy the Cobbler has tweaked the NMD R1’s lacing system in the past, by “uncaging” it, but this new setup is the next level. This embedded cord system is simple, functional, aesthetically pleasing, and gives the R1 silhouette a totally new look. Customizers are out here making the sneakers we really want — appreciate their work and allow it to inspire you to create your own thing! 1. I first thought the featured picture where the cords were exposed was the final product (and that looked good), then to see him clean it back up with the stripes was even more impressive.

  2. I was just uncaging my UB this weekend and thinking of a new lacing system. The yeezy lacing was…well, a lot have already done that so I wanted something new.

I wanted the (thick) laces themselves to be the three stripes on each sides but still functional enough when tightened. Might have to hit this guy’s IG for some ideas
