In early July, WearTesters reported that this Answer 1, which celebrates the 1997 Rookie of the Year Allen Iverson, would be back to celebrate the 20th anniversary of A.I.’s achievement. Now, the Answer 1 ‘White/Red’ has been officially unveiled by Reebok China.
Dubbed the Reebok Answer 1 DMX MU in China, this OG colorway is back for the first time in 20 years. The shoe won’t feature all the tech of the original because it has been designated a “lifestyle retro.”
The shoe’s original DMX10 Pac was removed to save weight but the I-Pac, which goes from heel to forefoot (and is being used in DMX shoes this year), has been added. Additionally, this 2018 retro of the Answer 1 DMX will use more EVA for a bouncier ride that should offer all-day comfort.
The Answer 1 DMX MU is also a celebration of the 1997 Rookie of the Year, Allen Iverson — just check out the tag behind the tongue. During the 1996-97 season, he averaged 23.5 points per game, 2.1 steals, 7.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and played an average of 40.1 minutes per game.
Iverson’s Reebok Answer 1 DMX MU will release exclusively in China for ¥1199 (approx. $175 USD) on September 22. There is no word yet on when the shoe will come to the U.S. but it will hit retail in Hong Kong in October.

That flat gold and no real DMX has me in my feelings. Not a deal breaker, but definitely disappointing.
These days, it is what it is. Hopefully the I-Pac feels okay.
Doubt it. The Answer 4.5 were horrible bricks with the same cushion setup. Bouncy? More like dead flat. You’d be better off with the fusion series.
People love to complain before actually trying out the products…lmao
No real DMX = Fake, at least it was like this for OGs back in 97
I think the DMX will feel great because it is the same DMX as the shoes they’ve released this year with real DMX (it’s not EXACTLY the same as the original I-Pak and 10-pak, but it’s actually better because it’s firmer and won’t bottom out like the originals). I think this year’s will be functional for actually aggressive play this time around, and not just feeling the air. I’m excited…now bring it to the Answer IV!!!!
