Dennis Smith Jr.’s athleticism will be on display this weekend as he flies high during the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and he’ll be wearing the Under Armour Heat Seeker.
According to UA, the Heat Seeker is built for explosive movement with a lightweight build, sturdy heel counter, and engineered knit upper. Cushioning is supplied by a die-cut EVA sockliner, a compression molded EVA midsole carrier, and a Micro G heel unit.
Moreover, a 3D shank wraps up and around the sidewall to provide lateral stability while full-length herringbone is used for traction. The shoe weighs 11.7 ounces and features a no-sew synthetic overlay that should protect the knit against toe drags.
On top of the new footwear, Under Armour is giving fans the opportunity to live life “above the rim” with Dennis Smith Jr. via a posterizer Snapchat lens created with UA’s partner RED Interactive.
The Snap lens, or filter, will allow users to experience what it’s like to throw down on friends and family with Smith Jr. To activate the lens users simply place the backboard frame anywhere in the screen and record video to capture friends and family under the animation of Smith Jr.’s monster dunk.
The Under Armour Heat Seeker is available now for $115 at Eastbay.com in six colorways. UnderArmour.com has also stocked some exclusive colorways.
We’ll have a performance review ready in the coming weeks so stay tuned while we weartest the shoe.

Micro G heel unit?! SMH. UA, why are you doing this?
I argee 100%, not a comfortable set up at ALL
so basically the drive 4 with a low knit upper. Could be good.
Also on a side note I like Dennis but I really want Donovan Mitchell to win the dunk contest. They both have insane vertical.
Smith just got straight up robbed in the DC. Unbelievable.
I thought he was incredible.
