Over the last few months, we at WearTesters have had the opportunity to test out a few Onix pickleball paddles in the brand’s current lineup including the Onix Supercell; Onix Malice DB; and Onix Hype X.
Now that we’re able to share some of our thoughts, here’s a rundown of the the best Onix pickleball paddles of 2025.
Best Onix Pickleball Paddles of 2025
Onix Supercell

The Onix Supercell leans heavily into the control category of pickleball paddles, but not too literally as it feels to settle at a borderline-neutral swing weight. This is an underrated aspect of the Supercell as it is headed by a thick, 22 mm core.
At $140 retail, the Onix Supercell is a great value for players in the market for a strictly control-oriented paddle. It does share a similar build and design elements with the comparable Selkirk Luxx Control Air. And it also has benefits in performance in its own right as a control paddle—plus it does so at nearly half the price.
If you are looking for an overall well-constructed pickleball paddle with an ultra-plush hitting surface and thick core but aren’t ready to spend beyond the $200-mark, look no further than the Onix Supercell.

Onix Malice DB

The Malice DB (double-bridge) is a unique, open-throat paddle that emphasizes pop with a 14 mm thick, semi-edgeless design. To help open up the sweet spot a bit more, it is packed in standard 16″ x 8″ dimensions with a 5″ handle.
Similar to the Onix Supercell, the Malice DB utilizes a carbon-fiber Power Frame construction and a similar grit application to the nearly edgeless design. Removable edge guards at the top corners of the paddle head help protect the Malice DB against scrapes and scuffs. However, one of those edge guards actually snapped on me during an early testing session, creating enough of an eyesore to make me want to remove them permanently for personal use.
Performance-wise, the Onix Malice DB is solid, but it’s far from personal consideration as a daily driver. While the double-bridge open throat with polypropylene inserts reduces vibration through the handle (at least compared to its non-double-bridge counterpart, the Onix Malice), there was still not enough reduction for my liking. It works best during intense hands battles due to its low swing weight and poppy nature. So if that is a primary benefit you are seeking in a paddle, it could work. Unfortunately though, at its price point, I would consider other options.

Onix Hype X

The Onix Hype X continues the brand’s use of its Power Frame construction, but on this particular model, a composite hitting surface is used to add a touch of pop. If you are looking for a hitting surface that’s a little softer, there’s a Hype X Pro that utilizes a raw carbon fiber hitting surface.
What I appreciate most about the Hype X is that it has a more traditional construction (closed throat, full edge guard, etc.). Also, the elongated dimensions and paddle face to handle length ratio promotes plow through power and ball spin. I view it as an all-court paddle that doesn’t lean heavily in either direction between power and control as it performed equally decent in the soft game as well as moments with more pace.
I think the paddle works best weighted up with lead or tungsten tape around the throat and the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. This setup reduces vibration through the handle and opens up the sweet spot a bit more. Even needing those modifications, I find it to be a good value below the $100 price point.
