It’s been years since the Gel-Lyte V earned its stripes in the ’90s as a runner and streetwear icon. Now, Asics has updated the sneaker for contemporary appeal to create the Gel-Lyte V Sanze.
According to Asics, “sanze” is a Japanese term for past, present and future. The new Asics Gel-Lyte V Sanze uses a modern construction but retains the core principles of the original; it features a nearly seamless upper, with the option of knit and mesh builds, and comes with striking overlays that nod back to the original sneaker.
Better still, the new sneaker retains its original Gel cushioning system — which feels great, even in 2018 — and makes it visible at the heel for a new vibe from Asics.
The Asics Gel-Lyte V Sanze is available at AsicsTiger.com and boutiques everywhere for a base price of $120. Knit builds retail for $160, but there are several new builds for $140 as well.
