Nordic sneaker company ARKK Copenhagen has thrown its hat into the dad shoe ring and come up with something interesting: the ARKK Apextron Mesh W13.
Inspired by sport with bold, smooth lines all over, the Apextron is ARKK’s latest addition to its stacked sneaker line up. A “deceptively uncomplicated” sneaker, the Apextron features a hybrid mesh and leather upper with embroidered branding, a perforated leather and Velcro closure strap across the instep, and new chunky tooling the recent “dad shoe” trend has celebrated.
The ARKK Apextron rides atop the brand’s newest sole unit. Dubbed the WAVE13 sole unit (W13 for short), the chunky sole is directly inspired by the Den Blå Planet Aquarium in Denmark. The aquarium, which was designed by 3XN Architects, informs the contrasting sharp geometric lines of the sole with its “whirling streams of the sea.”
Moreover, the W13 sole unit brings additional cushioning (although specifics are not clear at this moment). We’ll learn more because this chunky sole unit will make its way onto several more ARKK silhouettes soon.
Dubbed the “future-proof dad shoe” by ARKK Copenhagen, the Apextron will get its first drop on August 17 at us.arkkcopenhagen.com. Debuting in three colorways for both men and women — Black/Off-White, Off-White/Silver/Gray, and Rust/Off-White — the ARKK Apextron will retail for $170 USD.
