After eighteen months of design development, the ARKK Asymtrix Mesh F-PRO90 is finally ready to hit retail.
The shoe is the latest in a series of bold designs from Nordic footwear company ARKK Copenhagen. After teaming up with Boa for its first fashion collaboration, the ARKK Hypertrex, ARKK is setting its sights on asymmetry with a brand new sole unit.
The custom-constructed F-PRO90 sole unit is informed by sneaker soles that the ARKK design team grew up with in the 1990s, according to the brand. The F-PRO90 tooling is engineered with an elevated, curvilinear, and retro-sport silhouette that is constructed from a waste-free injected EVA midsole. A rubber outsole and embossed ARKK logo at the heel finishes off the new tooling.
That F-PRO90 tooling will ride beneath several upcoming ARKK sneakers including the new Asymtrix. The sneaker may seem like a normal classic leather sneaker but upon closer inspection it reveals its slightly off-center details; the shoe’s tonal embroidered logos, asymmetrical heel and tongue tabs, and padded lining all point to the future of ARKK’s design language. However, the shoe also references the brand’s very first sneaker, the Raven S-E15, with its diagonal vamp detailing and perforated leather heel piece.
“The Asymtrix is a design that the brand has been eagerly waiting to share with the world for more than a year,” explained ARKK Creative Director Kasper Høj Rasmussen in a statement. “We talk a lot about the future of the brand and the direction our designs should go and, without question, we feel that this is the right way forward.”
The ARKK Copenhagen Asymtrix releases globally on October 5 at 10 AM CET (4 AM ET) for $170. Three launch colorways, Triple Black, Camel, and Moon Grey, will be stocked in men’s and women’s sizing.
