After Nike swapped the tooling from the Air Max Plus and Air Max 97 to create two “new” silhouettes, the brand is doing the same thing with the Air VaporMax unit.
What appears to be an Air Max Plus upper has been spotted with an Air VaporMax unit. Done up in triple black, the shoe retains the plastic support structure and overall look. The Tuned Air brand has been altered to represent its new Air unit, although the branding isn’t entirely visible in this photo.
Of course, reusing tooling helps brands recoup the money they funneled into R&D, and Nike probably wants to get as much as it can from the VaporMax unit. It’s likely that many Air Max favorites will receive this kind of treatment, but we have no word on when this Air Max Plus VaporMax may be coming.
What do you think about this trend — VaporMax bottoms for every Air Max or what? Let us know in the comments.
