adidas and Eddie Huang team up to unveil the ‘Year of the Pig’-inspired Ultraboost.
In commemoration of Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig, adidas has collaborated with Eddie Huang for a limited edition Ultraboost to celebrate the event.
“Chinese New Year is a day to gather with friends, fam, old spirits, and new,” Huang said in a statement. “Open your doors, open your windows, sweep out last year’s luck and welcome in the new. As an overseas Taiwanese-Chinese, my favorite part of Chinese New Year has always been introducing our culture and values to friends.”
“With adidas, I wanted to honor Chinese New Year in a way that resonates will all generations. The Ultraboost is meant to commemorate the holiday in a modern way,” Huang concluded.
As such, the Primeknit upper is all-red with pink accents to along with a Chinee Boyz BBQ sockliner and a suede tongue with a panda on it, a reference to Huang’s nickname. With Huang being a chef, there is also a water-resistant heel with gold metal lace tips and a gold hanger plated outsole.
Lastly, each pair has the Chinese character “Good Fortune” stamped on it and comes with a custom Chinee Boyz BBQ dust bag.
The adidas Ultraboost Chinese New Year ‘Year of the Pig’ is releasing on February 7 for $200. They will be available on adidas.com and select adidas retailers exclusively in the US and Canada.
