The adidas Crazy Explosive Primeknit is Available Now in Black

Finally. I’ve been waiting for this colorway to release ever since I saw the designer of the shoe wear them during his presentation on the Crazy Explosive with Andrew Wiggins.

Simple, and elegant. Colorways can truly make or break a shoe from an aesthetic point of view. The Crazy Explosive nails it on all fronts on-court, but every colorway — other than the Swaggy P PE — hasn’t been a good look off court. These have got you covered on both fronts.

If you wanted the adidas Crazy Explosive Primeknit in all-black then head over to adidas.com or FinishLine.com.

  1. I want to get these so bad but the one thing holding me back is traction durability. If it’s true that these burn down even indoors then that’s unfortunate. Traction durability and cushion are now my two main focuses after having traction burn out on me way too fast before and knees that are on fire more often than not. At 29, it sucks.

I feel like companies are definitely doing this on purpose but when a shoe is durable, I usually pick up multiple so that would be kind of backwards for me personally. Put out something that can last and ppl may want more vs. something frail thinking that people will come out the pocket for another.

    1. Who knows…maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about and this is simply the best kind of traction compromise. All i know is I used to be able to take a shoe indoor and out without worries knowing that I’d be covered. It’s just getting harder to do that in current models that actually have both of my needs of cushion and traction.

      1. The outsole is like a supermodel with crooked, yellow teeth- everything is great but that one thing, which could’ve been prevented. I’m sure the traction would be fine with a solid rubber, and would be savage with Continental, which in addition to durability just seems to stick better.

          1. Aye I just got that D Rose 6 black mesh. Its awesome- the mesh conforms to my foot and feels broken in right off the bat. Hows the solid traction holding up for you? I wanna try it outdoors, but it feels kind of soft, even a bit softer than the Rose 6 translucent.

      2. Hey Trezz, I agree with you 100%. I hate it when these new performance models have traction that burns down fast. Does the traction have to be that soft for it to perform? I’ve always thought it was a ploy for the shoes to not last and make the customer buy another pair. I’ve been thinking about the traction in regards to Adidas Basketball shoes the past year or two as them taking a kind of planned obsolescence approach.

What about old school shoes like the Air Jordan 1s? Nightwing says that have some of the best traction ever.

And yes, cushion, and good performing durable traction is what I look for these days.

    2. If you have fire knees, these aren’t for you anyway. Anyone gushing about the cushion weights like 140 lbs. The forefoot is on the harder side.

      1. I thought these had the more plush Boost compared to their other models released this year? I thought these were closer to the D Rose 6s cushioning?

    3. Personally, I think these would burn 3 months of constant play (not very hard). my Wiggins went the same way with the icy blue outsole which is fine by me since I have 2 Rose 6’s to play with. my black mesh pair are just starting to burn due to constant casual/gaming use since I got them early this year and still have the AB Rose 6 Pair as a reserve for another year of use. I still would have loved to have owned the Xeno, Lux and BHM if they were still available. anyway, my opinion is that the solid rubbers would atleast be good for 6 months of constant hard play/use up to 1 year if used conservatively on and off or not rubbing them madly on the surface.

  2. I’ve seen a lot of reviews mentioning the traction durability as well. I’ve only logged about 5 hours of play in mine so far, but the traction has held up so far.

    1. Thanks for the info Andrew. I just wish that i could make the leap regret free but I’d be really disappointed if the traction peeled super quick. That’s literally the only thing that is making me hold off right now.

  3. I burned through the traction pretty fast on the shoe I push off with, the good news is after I got down to basically a flat spot I have really good traction again

  4. companies do that so you’ll buy more shoes from them. if shoes lasted forever then you’d never need another pair. im sure the next pair will have great traction but lack in something else. its what they do to get more money out of us

    1. I agree and I don’t need them to last forever but to be reasonable. I know what you mean though. The thing is that when I find one that hits on the major points, I buy multiple because i know that it’s basically a unicorn nowadays. If that’s the mindset though, I wonder how effective it is because if I see more of the same like weak traction of bad cushion then I just move on to the next brand’s products to try those out. I’d think that would be most effective on people who are brand loyal I guess.

      1. I expect a shoe to last about 3 months with really hard play. Anything more than that, then that is a bonus for me. If I were to get 6 months out of something that is pushed hard, then I’d be really happy with that.

However, shoes that burn through the traction on indoor courts in less than a month, well, I’m not down with that at all. That’s just pathetic IMO and a complete waste of money. That’s rip off territory to me. That’s where it seems like they are flat out doing it on purpose to get you to buy another pair.

        1. Hey bro. That’s reasonable Ice. I don’t get to play like I used to with odd work schedule (nights) and other responsibilities that I have now. It’s just crazy how some of these products are being made man. I’m not even looking back too far to find something that worked so well in multiple areas and felt like it lasted. I don’t know man. I am still interested in the shoe if I can grab some at a later date discounted to try them but I can’t pay full price knowing that they won’t give me the money’s worth probably.

          1. My right shoe was burned pretty flat at the ball of the foot after 4 days of heavy play. I may return them to eastbay but it’s tough because other than that it’s the most perfect shoe I’ve played in

        2. I remembered wearing some early edition Melos in the past that burned a day after playing. that was a solid color outsole but with really really soft and sticky texture. great performing and aesthetically nice shoe, but sadly with an NBA shoe lifespan.

  5. Adidas will hopefully listen or read some of the comments here,

Still hoping for that continental solid rubber outsole colorway.

    Thanks Adidas in Advance!!!!!

  6. I still think a solid rubber option may be coming. When the CE first leaked as the J Wall 3, that one had solid rubber.
