Spotted by our very own Bryan Hinkle (Duke4005), the adidas AlphaBounce Instinct is the three stripes brand latest in its series of Bounce-cushioned runners.
We all know Boost is great — hell, we started #BoostisLife — but it can bottom out over time and it’s far too soft for some people. As an alternative many turn to Bounce, which is firmer than Boost, never bottoms out, and comes at a much more affordable price point. Next month, adidas will be continuing what it started with the AlphaBounce and AlphaBounce Beyond by bringing us something new.
The adidas AlphaBounce Instinct has the look of a performance runner but is, unfortunately, designated for lifestyle use. The shoe features a slip-on textile and synthetic sock-like upper with a lacing system that secures at the midfoot via a TPU plug. When I first saw the shoe I thought it rode atop a decoupled midsole — something I love in my sneakers — but the outsole was just playing tricks on me. Continental Rubber tread should offer good traction with the S-shaped midsole/outsole.
The adidas AlphaBounce Instinct has, as you can tell from these photos, already hit shelves at some local retailers. The shoe will official launch at Eastbay.com on July 7 in several colorways for $120 (some are pictured below).
