For nearly a year adidas has been teasing us with limited releases of the Futurecraft 4D, the brand’s first 4D-equipped sneaker, with most pairs going to friends and family under the Three Stripes umbrella. Now, the brand has unveiled its newest model: the adidas AlphaEdge 4D LTD.
Last month, New York City got a taste of the Futurecraft 4D with super limited release at Kith, Packer Shoes, and Sneakersnstuff. Now, for NBA All-Star Week, adidas is hitting Los Angeles with a new model: the AlphaEdge 4D LTD.
With an upper based on the popular and high-performing AlphaBounce running sneaker, the AlphaEdge 4D LTD replaces the Bounce foam midsole with the 4D midsole from the Futurecraft line. Working with industrial partner Carbon, adidas has crafted a material for controlled energy return in every step using light and oxygen; the goal is to equip individual athletes with midsoles crafted and tuned specifically for them.
There is a major catch to this release, besides for its price: unless you get lucky online at adidas.com, you have to be in Los Angeles for the drop. Here is how this will work:
- You must download and sign up for the adidas app via Google Play or iTunes.
- You have to register for the drop between February 12 and 15.
- Reservations will be on a first come, first serve basis at the adidas flagship stores in Santa Monica and Culver City, and the shoes can be picked up on February 17.
If you happen to strike out online or at the adidas drop, there will also be limited numbers of the AlphaEdge 4D LTD available at BAIT, Undefeated, and Nice Kicks LA. The shoe will retail for $300.
If $300 seems like a lot, adidas has $400 Futurecraft 4D collabs planned for March.

3D Print meant to be cheaper technology. Why do you overcharge the sneaker by so much
In the long run, yes but quantities of scale and the current output ability of 3D printing make the price go up.. I’m sure they add a bunch for the hype effect also though
$300? Hell no
