While the Internets decide whether A$AP Rocky’s Under Armour collab is going to bring back bulky skate shoes, we at WearTesters are focused on something a bit more interesting: the Forge 96.
Originally scheduled to release for Under Armour’s now-dead UAS (Under Armour Sportswear) brand, the Forge 96 is a continuation of what the brand started with the UAS Forge 1 Mid. That shoe, a mid-top sneaker that blended modern knit materials with premium leathers in stunning fashion, released in late-2017 and then fell off most radars.
According to Under Armour, the Forge 96 will release under the new UA Sport Style brand in August to finish what the Forge 1 Mid started. The Forge 96 is a lowtop runner that rides atop the same slightly chunky tooling used on the Forge 1 Mid (although we’ll miss the gum bottoms). Like the original shoe, the Forge 96 blends premium materials with modern synthetics to create a striking and contemporary look.
There is no official word yet as to what the Forge 96 will retail for or when exactly it will become available. Stay tuned for updates.
