In July, WearTesters reported that Reebok Classic would be enlisting several young artists for ‘Alter the Icons’, a new collection that re-imagines classic Reebok sneakers.
The collection challenges the future generation of designers, artists, and other visionaries in to alter their paths. Reebok has tapped game-changing contemporary music artists JAYIDK, Saweetie, MadeinTYO, and Bodega Bamz to showcase how young creatives are departing from tradition.
“Alter the Icons is about celebrating those who have similarly broken custom within their mediums — fashion, music, design, art — by using their own ‘spin’ to alter traditional paths to success,” said Neal Taylor, General Manager of Reebok Classic, in a statement. “We see these five artists as role models for bold cultural departure, inspiring a like-minded generation of rising creatives to push boundaries and march to the beat of their own drum.”
The first ‘Alter the Icons’ drop included new takes on the Classic Leather and Workout plus silhouettes that used clear TPU supports and interesting colorblocking. Now, the second drop — which includes even more fresh builds of the Workout Plus Altered ($90) and Classic Leather Altered ($85) — has landed at Reebok.com. There are several colorways for men, women, and kids stocked in limited numbers.
The ‘Alter the Icons’ styles can also be found in-store and online at Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, SIX:02, Champs Sports, and Footaction.
