To say the adidas Crazy Light 2 isn’t a complete upgrade from the original would be a flat out lie. Light done right is an understatement…
The entire shoe needs break-in time. I ran in them for about 2 hours straight before I started to feel the break-in process. Afterwards it just gets better and better…
The first area that you will notice is right at the toe. While materials are thinner than the original, they are also much stronger so it’s something I am more than willing to live with. This area was the fastest and easiest to break-in by the way… especially if you play on your forefoot.
Running along most of the base is the SPRINTFRAME. This time around they have modified it a bit to allow for more range of motion on the medial side while the lateral has been extended for greater support. This is the area that will take a while to break-in. Even after 5 hours on-court they aren’t completely broken in – midfoot to forefoot SPRINTFRAME section – but they feel a heck of a lot better than they did straight out the box. If you are patient enough these will not only work for you but they are a lot of fun to play in… unlike the first Crazy Light.
I did mention this in both my initial First Impression & the Video Review but the ventilation has taken a major step back. SPRINTWEB usually offers the greatest amount of ventilation and air flow out of any other material I’ve worn… at least it is if enough open areas are present. The medial side panel offers great air flow and ventilation but the rest of the upper is closed in which caused a lot of moisture build up within the shoe. Using adidas’ Team Speed Crew sock in conjunction with the sneaker itself works well but it’s not perfect… not that it needs to be since the overall fit is so snug that your foot doesn’t have anywhere for it to move so in that sense it’s not that bad.
I’m almost done with the Team Speed Crew sock by the way so be on the lookout for that review soon.
So far I like what I have experienced. It’s nice to see a brand really focus on improvements that truly benefit the wearer instead of rehashing the same ‘tech’ into new silhouettes.
Just to be perfectly clear… wide footers may not like how these feel as far as the overall fit is concerned. They run very narrow and I don’t know how much they would break-in. Fair warning…

How narrow are these? Even narrower than Fly wade 2 (non-EV)?
Pretty narrow but its around the ball of the foot area so not quite the same as the wade.
Would you say the new crazy lights are worth getting rid of the old ones?
The CL2 is far greater than the first version since theyve added some much needed support to the upper.
Good to know they break in because they felt really stiff when I tried them on last weekend.
Crazy stiff… Almost didnt want to take them out with me but glad i did.
I noticed at the store how stiff the material on the lateral side is! and that they covered up the vents on that side. But I’d take support/stability over breathability any day.
The new Adidas adizero bash 3 are a Asian first release but I’m in Europe and they have them in a white gold and black cw. If you can find em I think you’ll like ’em they have adiprene a sprint frame no mi coach capability instead you have a thing like the z torsion system on the howards except these are half arches on the same location and a hole and a perforation that goes up to the insole. I tried them on they be really nice and the upper is spintweb and really soft at the upper not stiff at all. If you can fnid em it would be a great to see a review.
I just got the rose 2.5 and the next day these come out at my adidas shop. and they are on frit try and impression better than the rose 2.5. That’s why I’m asking you if you could do a vid and sorta a comparison. also they run for 130 so price wise they seem to have more put in them, maybe just a small 20bucks hike. Any who keep it up great reviews and the days of jays are awesome
Ill have to look into those. Havent heard of them.
I wear a size 10 US with my Kobe 6s.
Im currently not in a position to go and try the shoe on myself and have to order it online.
Should I order a 10 or a 10.5 in your opinion ?
I have reasonably wide feet but have worn a size 10 in my last 2 basketball shoes (being the Kobe 4 and the Kobe 6).
Thanks in advance
I go over the fit in the First Impression.
MY QUESTION is….
do they glow in the dark???
XD
They dont but they sure are bright lol
The fit section in the first impression answered most of my questions, but is there a specific shoe that fits similar to this one? Hyperfuse maybe?
Thanks and keep up the great work!
Maybe the Hyperfuse… since they are narrow. But I really havent had another shoe fit this way before, they are REALLY narrow.
Do you personally prefer the CL2 or the Adizero Rose 2.5?
how much thinner is the CL1 in comparison with the new CL2???
out of 10 how much would you rate the crazy light 1 and 2???
please write back, it would be very helpful.
I own the crazy light 1 (Rose) colorway myself so I am considering the next version
Question for anyone…
I have been wearing these for about a month, 6-8 hours of court time a week over that period. I am still experiencing break-in stiffness around the knuckle of my toes, same spot as noted in the review…so much so that the discomfort is impeding my ability to play.
Any advice on how to loosen the associated stiffness or relieve some of the discomfort?
Thanks in advance.
