Not every day do actors or comedians like Kevin Hart get to sell out a venue like Madison Square Garden and also get their own signature sneaker. That’s one of the key highlights to Kevin Hart’s career. However, it isn’t only the shoe that means something, it’s the movement. Nike has given up a direct view of what’s going on with Kevin and the #MoveWithHart message behind it.
It’ll be interesting to see how a shoe for comedian/fitness geek sells. Here’s all the information via Nike:
Type “fitness inspo” into an Internet browser and over half a million hits will materialize, each containing countless phrases that encourage the reader to get out there and get after it. Since discovering fitness, actor, comedian and cross-trainer Kevin Hart has evolved this digital encouragement into analog “no excuses, no days off,” action, hosting nationwide #MoveWithHart events that draw thousands and espousing the endless benefits of a daily workout. Now, Hart and Nike take the in-real-life tactic a (literal) step further with the Nike Free Train Instinct Hart, a personalized training shoe embellished with Hart’s choice motivating phrases, 23 to be exact, depicted in flash reflective technology.
“Nike sent me the canvas of one of their upcoming training shoes, the Nike Free Train Instinct, and wanted me to write what I felt would motivate and inspire people so they could use those words on my own version of the shoe,” Hart explains.
“The reflective nature amplifies the shoe. If you move your foot inward or outward, you are going to see one of these sayings, to hopefully inspire you to get up and get better.”
The shoe also nods to Hart’s personal inspiration. Red and blue colorways honor Hart’s kids, Hendrix and Heaven, with red and blue being their favorite colors, respectively. An additional black colorway adds versatility.
But like Hart himself, the shoe isn’t one note. It blends style with three essential performance elements: stability, flexibility and traction. “This shoe is bigger than the fashion behind it,” Hart confirms. “It fits my training needs. It’s built for everything — running, jumping, cutting and lifting,” Hart says.
The Nike Free Train Instinct Hart, similar to the Nike Free Train Force Flyknit, aims at dual stability for lateral movement and lifting support. Its warp knit upper, Flywire technology and knit outrigger in the forefoot provide lock-down for quick cuts. Additionally, its dual-density midsole provides the cushioning and responsiveness needed for explosive movement and helps prevent the shoe from compressing under heavy weights.
“The Nike Free Train Instinct Hart is just one part of the #MoveWithHart journey,” Hart concludes, “that I hope helps inspire millions to become the best version of themselves through physical fitness. Every time you see or put on these sneakers, I hope it’s just a constant reminder to always put your best foot forward, to never quit and to know that you can reach your training goals and achieve personal greatness.”
The Nike Free Train Instinct Hart is available beginning June 11 at SNKRS, starting with the black colorway. The blue and red colorways will become available mid-July. Each shoe will be available in the US only, with limited quantities.
