In the past, we have seen exclusive collaborations between J. Crew and New Balance on the 1400, 998, and 996 silhouettes. Now, the New Balance 997 Butterscotch is a fresh new collab on the iconic 997 model.
These brown and tan tones on the sneaker are inspired by Grandpa’s candy dish, and the premium upper is comprised of deluxe materials like nubuck, suede, leather, and mesh. New Balance has been known to produce domestically, meaning the brand manufactures a portion of its shoes in USA. However, an investigation found that only 70% of the “Made in the USA” shoe components were actually made in America (read about that here). Regardless, the New Balance 997 Butterscotch proudly stunts the “Made in the USA” tag along the mesh tongue.
These limited edition kicks are going to release for $210 retail on March 12 in J. Crew stores and online, and if you’re hooked, check out the pictures and the video that showcases its intricate manufacturing process below.
