First Impression: Jordan Super.Fly

These were a pain in the butt to locate… I had to resort to purchasing online.

Traction – It looks solid. Fairly similar to the Air Jordan 2012 in terms of looks, however, these are a bit thicker and the rubber feels much more durable. This would be a great outdoor hoops shoe so long as the traction performs as good as I hope it will.

Cushion – Lunarlon forefoot and Zoom Air in the heel. I will say, I’m a bit disappointed with the Lunarlon right now. Its VERY firm and feels nothing like the previous Lunarlon based setups I’ve worn in the past. This could be a good thing in terms of longevity of the foam but for now I’m just a little surprised.

The heel Zoom Air is very soft… almost mushy in comparison to the forefoot. We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out.

Material – The material is nice and feels very rugged so durability shouldn’t be a problem. It’s the reinforced toe box that concerns me a little… its very stiff so I hope it won’t affect its overall performance. Other than that I think the materials are great.

Fit – Ordering a shoe I’ve never worn before online is something I’m usually against. This time around it just so happened to work out as these fit perfectly. True to size is recommended unless you have wide feet then you may want to go up ½ size.

Ventilation – The ventilation would be adequate had they not blocked the small slits in the Fuse with the thick sock liner. This liner is thick and the material it’s made of isn’t very breathable so I don’t see how air can flow in and out through the vents or the mesh overlay with that in place. I’m not sure if this liner is used on all pairs or just this RTTG version… I’ll have to assume it’s in all since these aren’t available in-store for me to check out.

Support – Carbon Fiber was a pleasant surprise as was the external heel clip which is reinforced with an internal TPU cup. Support looks and feels fine from a try on so in-game will be the deciding factor… for now I’m impressed.

I’m pretty impressed with these to be perfectly honest. I didn’t think Jordan Brand had it in them to release a sneaker with so much tech put into it at such an affordable price.

  1. Cant wait to see the review. I’m curious what you think of the lunarlon in these compared to the HD2012s and Wade 2s (I like the firmer lunarlon in the Wades). I also just saw these in black/white on sale for $90 at my local foot locker. These could be a steal for $90…..

  2. Greetings from greece
I love the looks of the jordan super fly model but im waiting for a full review comparing this to HD2012 which i ordered a week ago looking for a second pair of shoes to begin the baskeball season in a greek team i play ball ta PF position.

    1. Hi Tyler, so which shoe did you cop in the end? Soldier 6 or these Jordan Super Fly’s? I’m deciding between these 2 too right now as they are both on sale in my country. Medium price.
