Jordan Brand has finally unveiled the ‘International Pack’. Consisting of the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 5, and Air Jordan 12, the collection celebrates Michael Jordan’s global tours in the offseason that garnered him millions of international fans.
During the offseason, Michael Jordan toured the world and played exhibition games in many countries overseas. While the games were friendly, MJ’s competitive spirit was always present. The International Flight collection celebrates three of his most memorable stops overseas with passport-inspired packaging.
The Air Jordan 3 ‘International Flight’ honors MJ’s 54 point performance at a charity All-Star game in the summer of 1988. This Air Jordan 3’s color scheme is informed by the uniform he wore in front of that Los Angeles crowd and features MJ’s signature on the left tongue. While no official release date has been announced, the Air Jordan 3 ‘International Flight’ is expected to release on June 30 for $190, according to leaker @pinoe77, although it has not appeared on release calendars yet.
The Air Jordan 5 ‘International Flight’ is informed by a game Jordan played in Barcelona in the summer of 1990 (he scored 37 points). This sneaker swaps the ‘Fire Red’ color blocking for a Racer Blue look inspired by Spanish street art. According to leaker @zsneakerheadz, the Air Jordan 5 ‘International Flight’ will hit retail on September 8 for $190.
The last piece of this pack, the Air Jordan 12 ‘International Flight’, pays homage to a 1996 basketball clinic MJ hosted in Tokyo, Japan. He also played in a showcase with NBA superstars there and wore his current signature shoe at the time, the Jordan 12. The shoe takes inspiration from a vintage fashion shoe from the 1920s that used a radiant quilted pattern, according to Jordan Brand.
The unique Air Jordan 12 ‘International Flight’ flaunts an embossed kimono print and “Air Jordan” in Japanese characters. According to Jordan Brand, the shoe will release in limited numbers on September 8.
