Under Armour’s Highlight Delta 2, the latest upgrade to the well-received Highlight Delta — worn by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — has just released.
Right off the top, it should be stated that the Highlight Delta 2 has dropped a significant amount of weight since its first iteration. The Highlight Delta 2 weighs 9.3 oz., 1.5 oz. less than the first Highlight Delta.
More than just weight has been shed. The somewhat bulky ribbed ankle collar of the original Delta has been replaced with what appears to be a knit ankle collar. Inside, it uses soft foam for fit and stability, and it retains the molded heel cup to keep its wearer’s feet on the footbed.
The solid rubber outsole has also been slimmed down and streamlined. It features deep flex grooves and a new traction pattern that is more in line with what the Under Armour runners are using (and they have fantastic traction, just check out Duke4005’s Under Armour Threadborne Slingflex performance review).
The UA Highlight Delta 2 has updated its seamless breathable mesh upper with a new lacing system that eliminates the fuse of the original. The UA branding has been moved to heel to accentuate the upper’s minimalistic aesthetic.
Cushioning has stayed the same, and when something works, why change it? The same two-piece Charged Cushioning midsole combines a soft top layer of foam with a denser base for both comfort and support.
The Under Armour Highlight Delta 2 is available now for the same price as the first Delta: $120. Eastbay.com has stocked four new colorways — Stone/Ivory/Metallic Silver, Black/Steel, True Ink/Glacier Grey, and Black/Rhino Grey — in US sizes 7 to 15.
Let us know if you pick up a pair and whether or not you’re excited for this latest silhouette from UA.
