For the past two weeks my partner and I have been wearing the ARKK Copenhagen Velcalite CM H-X1, the latest silhouette from the growing Scandinavian brand.
The ARKK Copenhagen Velcalite is the lightest shoe the brand has ever made and it shows. On-foot, the shoe feels weightless because it’s just a breathable mesh upper and paper thin tongue riding atop a minimal midsole.
After several seriously hot days in NYC I was glad I had this shoe in the rotation because it kept my feet ventilated and cool. The shoe is made for casual everyday wear and it excels in that category. It is no runner, so try not to run a mile in it, but it does double as a good water shoe if you’re hiking to some swimming spots this summer.
I’ve worn minimal shoes from other brands — the Nike Roshe and adidas ZX Flux — but I much prefer ARKK Copenhagen’s approach to the lightweight sneaker. The super clean and minimal look of the Velcalite had several people asking me where I got the shoes, and to my surprise, the people I spoke to were all in for this lesser-known footwear company. Additionally, the ARKK branding perfectly echoes the midfoot strands that secure the lacing.
