Another boot has been unveiled in anticipation for next month’s World Cup, this time its the Mizuno Wave Ignitus III in a sleek black/gold colorway. The Ignitus is Mizuno’s power silo in direct competition with the Puma evoPOWER. The power silo has not seen new models from Adidas and Nike for some time now so this release could gain a following. The Ignitus features a gold ‘Primesknin’ upper that is supposedly very similar to kangaroo leather, but the real draw for this model is the panels on the forefoot and instep for power and control. They offer an exaggerated strike zone, increase friction on contact with the ball, and give the player that extra feeling of bounce off the kick. According to Mizuno, the largest power panel on the boot creates a ‘non-spin’ effect on the rotation of the ball, which makes it harder for goalkeepers to judge trajectory. Keisuke Honda will be playing in these during the World Cup so we can look forward to seeing them in action on the pitch. Let us know what you think of them below!
