We Are Underdogs, a creative platform that is producing the concept sneakers of PENSOLE students, has just launched its second release: Melvin Melchor’s FAST BREAK.
We Are Underdogs (WAU) burst onto the scene last month when the brand released INITIUM, a sneaker designed by Maxwell Lund, winner of the 2016 PENSOLE World Sneaker Championship. The sneaker was released in a very limited run — each pair is numbered out of 99, — and is currently available at WeAreUnderdogs.com.
The brand’s next design, called FAST BREAK, has just launched. Designed by Melvin Melchor, a top-8 finisher in last year’s PENSOLE World Sneaker Championship, the concept sneaker takes inspiration from American hightops and lowtop Euro runners.
This slip-on sneaker is constructed from premium soft split suede, nappa calf leather, and polyester mesh. The front half of the shoe is a cement grey tone while the ankle and heel portions are solid black. Leather hits are seen along both sides of the forefoot and on the pull tab/eyestay.
Melchor’s FAST BREAK is available exclusively online for $169 at WeAreUnderdogs.com. Like the INITIUM, only 99 pairs have been handmade in Portugal so act fast if this is one you want to pick up.
