After his first black/gum Metcon 4 PE, which was inspired by motorcycles and weightlifting, Mat Fraser has partnered with Nike for another Metcon 4 PE.
Nike’s Metcon series was designed to gain ground in the CrossFit crowd, which Reebok dominates. Much like many other competitions, CrossFit Games winners are awarded a lump sum of prize money as well as a medal for the top-three finishes.
Those top-three finishes are all too common for CrossFit athlete Mat Fraser as he finished second in back-to-back years (2014 and 2015). However, the last three years have been his to lose as he has completed a three-peat, winning gold from 2016-2018.
As a result of this accomplishment, Nike has gifted Fraser an exclusive colorway of the Metcon 4. This particular pair features gold on the haptic-printed upper, swoosh, heel clip, and laces to commemorate the gold medal. Furthermore, the midsole/outsole has gold speckles for some added flair.
This special edition Nike Metcon 4 colorway was created exclusively for Fraser and as such it will not be available for sale to the general public like his first PE was.

Not a fan of this colour at all. The gold looks tacky and misplaced. The gold could have been used more subtly. It doesn’t even look like Nike tried. However, these are amazing shoes to train in. They are a complete upgrade in comfort from the 3’s. Lockdown is better. I cant wait for the Metcon 5. Hopefully we will get a new design.
