Nike Basketball is planning to take classic colorways of classic hoop shoes and apply them to the current roster of on-court kicks. The first up is the Nike Kyrie 2 ‘Kyrache’ and we can’t believe how good they look.
The Nike Kyrie 2 isn’t for everyone, but they were solid in certain areas — traction specifically — but this classic Huarache colorway gives the shoe a special touch that only the 90’s could bring. Utilizing a simple, yet bold, color palette (bold for the 90’s at any rate), the Kyrache’s white upper, Berry strap, and Huarache styled tongue set the shoe off in ways that their original colorways just couldn’t do. Hitting the nostalgia button on older sneaker enthusiasts while still catering to the younger generation.
The Kyrie 2 Kyrache features colors and details nodding to the iconic Nike Air Flight Huarache that debuted in 1992, the year Irving was born. The original shoe features bold purple and blue color-blocking with an exoskeleton design mimicking the intuitive fit of ancient Mayan sandals. – Nike Inc.
The remixed Nike Kyrie 2 ‘Kyrache’ is is scheduled to release on June 7 for those interested.
