Performance Teaser: Nike Hyperdunk 2013

The Hyperdunk 2013 has everything the 2012 had but features better traction.

The traction is pretty nice. I really liked the Hyperdunk 2012’s traction and it worked well outdoors as well which is a plus. These on the other hand REALLY grip the floor, especially upon lateral movements. This is a great Guard feature so if you are quick on your feet and love to slash, this is one of the best setups you’ll find to cater to your needs.

I wanted to say briefly that the fit is true to size. Upon trying them on they felt pretty tight but after you start to run around they break-in and they do so rather quickly.

All in all. These will be a great performance model for multiple positions – like the rest of the Hyperdunks in years past – but the added traction will really allow certain Guards to move effortlessly without hesitation.

  1. The issue I had with HD2012 was the mid shank. I could feel it being higher than the heel and forefoot lunar foam. Do these have the same issue NW

  2. Does it give you a “high platform” feeling on the heel like the 2011’s?
    That’s my only concern.

  3. When you mention break in time, what influences that factor? Is it the material of the upper?

    1. I have the 2012 so I think the 2013 would be simular. At first they were so tight that after the first game i had to take them off because my forefoot were so numb. But after I readjust the laces they go well . I would said it is the middle sole which need to break in, since the fuse upper doesn’t stretch, so it would be the insole and midsole that give in in the break in process.

        1. You’ve never broken in a shoe? Try on the same shoe you already own and have been playing with on one foot and try on the same shoe but brand new on the other foot. Trust me, you’ll feel a big difference between the shoe that has been broken in and one that hasnt… especially when they are made with plastic uppers like this.

          1. I guess that my question was a bit off. I mean what is it about a shoe that dictates whether the break in time is short or long? I think you may have hinted at synthetic plastic uppers for having longer break in periods. Like would a midsole: Cushlon, Phylon, Lunarlon, etc. break in faster than another?

            1. It can be anything. Midsole, cushion, upper. Just depends on what is used. KD IV for example, they never felt good or got better with wear for me. The KD V did. So it can be many things.
