Brandblack Founder May Be Making a Racing Shoe for Formula 1

brandblack david raysse racing shoe formula 1

Brandblack founder David Raysse can usually be caught cooking up something dope. The latest is a knit sneaker for racing.

And by racing, I mean motorsports. Drivers usually need minimalist shoes (that are usually flame-retardant) that offer good pedal-feel. Additionally, every gram in a race car counts, so racing shoes need to be lightweight and durable.

The shoe seen here is definitely minimalist and appears to feature a knit upper. It look anatomical and lightweight, so we’re interested in where this thing is headed…

When we know more about this concept we’ll update you.

  1. Formula 1 and Brandblack is the perfect cross section of my interests. Based on the colours, it’d be awesome to see the Brandblack logo on the cockpit sidewalls of next year’s Renault.

  2. Obviously money plays a factor, but any ideas or comments on why we haven’t seen another NBA player wear BB? Does BB even want that? It seems an unbelievable product is not being utilized by the players that can so plainly benefit from it.

  3. I don’t know how I feel about knit. Love how round the heel is. Used to have a Puma pair for driving. There is something of an improvement, but with transmissions switching to dual clutch setups more often, the only upside in feel will be braking unless that gets an electronic feed as well some day.

The Jordan 14 is a favorite for me to drive in, as well as the Foamposite because of their rout heel and flat forefoot profiles, and sole stiffness. But otherwise it’s a wash. Just some Boost shoes throw off my shifting.
