Air Jordan 9

The Air Jordan 9, Michael Jordan’s ninth signature shoe, is an odd one, because MJ himself barely wore them.

The Jordan 9 debuted in 1993 during Jordan’s first retirement from the NBA. Michael played baseball for a season in the minors, which is probably why the Air Jordan is considered to look like a baseball shoe. Production of the shoe had begun before Michael had announced his retirement. Instead of marketing the shoe around MJ’s basketball skills, Nike used the opportunity to tap into Michael’s global influence.

They aren’t the greatest on-court performer and are surprisingly lacking in support. They feature enclosed Air cushioning in the heel, an inner bootie, and a “one pull” lacing system. Perhaps their best feature is their traction, but you might want to reach for other retro Jordans before you go for the Jordan 9.

AVERAGE RETAIL PRICE: $190

Nike Goes Behind the Design of the Air Jordan IX (9)

The Air Jordan 9 was one of the first sneakers to tell a story along the outsole of the shoe. While wear-testing it for my Air Jordan Project I realized that rubber compound really helped dictate whether or not an outsole would grip the court. Recently, Nike went behind the design of the Air Jordan 9 because the shoe is about to release

An Official Look at the Air Jordan 9 Retro ‘Kobe PE’

Jordan Brand will be releasing an Air Jordan 9 Retro that pays homage to Kobe Bryant — although, we’re not sure if that is the official story they’ll be running with. These are scheduled to release on November 19 for $190, and are nearly identical to the pair that was made for Kobe Bryant while he and Shaq were teammates. They

An Official Look at Jordan Brand’s Holiday Lineup

It’s November, which means only one thing. Sneaker-heads can’t wait until December. December marks the month that Jordan Brand brings out some of the years best releases — although I’d argue that January has been a strong month over the past few years as well. On December 3 the Air Jordan 9 Retro “OG” returns to retail once again. I mentioned

Jordan Brand Celebrates Football Kick-off Weekend

Football season is back ladies and gents! Although most of us are ballers at heart, it’s nice to see sports come back with a bang. Speaking of that, Jordan brand is bringing back a classic silhouette in cleat form to the field. From Nike: Since the early 2000s, Air Jordan silhouettes have had a strong presence on the gridiron, with several

Get up close and personal with the Air Jordan 9 Retro ‘Anthracite’

The next ‘big’ Jordan release is coming up this weekend, and it’s another pair of Jordan 9’s. This ‘Anthracite’ pair is simple, and clean… and it exactly like the Oregon PE we saw not too long ago sans the heel logo. Due to the fact that these aren’t dubbed the ‘Oregon’ 9 and that they’re not limited at all… these

Get a Detailed Look at the Air Jordan 9 Retro ‘The Spirit’ On Foot

This Saturday brings another Retro from Jordan Brand, and it’s one we haven’t seen in a while. We had our fair share of Air Jordan 9’s in 2012, but they’re back and remastered… sort of. They need to flip that Jumpman on the left shoe so it’s facing the toe if they really want me to believe the shoe’s are being

Air Jordan IX (9) Retro ‘The Spirit’ – Official Look + Release Info

Next week the Air Jordan 9 Retro will return in ‘remastered’ form, looking closer to the original product than past releases – although the 2002 releases were a little closer than these are, minus the last plastic speed lacing loop. With all that aside, this colorway pays homage to the iconic statue of MJ that sits outside of the United

They aren’t cool grey 9’s, but they certainly are cool… This is such a simple colorway, but I think that the pinstriped lining on these ties together the whole shoe together. That, and the fact that these say 45 on the heel. These are releasing on April 5th, so you have a bit of time to make up your mind
