Performance Teaser: adidas adiPower Howard

The adidas adiPower Howard has probably been the most difficult shoe for me to review at this point. They aren’t bad shoes by any means but I am having a hard time separating my natural Guard mentality from the shoes while playing in them so bear with me as I will do my best to review these from a neutral standpoint.

Traction has been a hit or miss depending on court conditions. I automatically want to blame it on the translucent rubber however; the adiPower Howard 2’s that I’ve been playing in use translucent rubber as well without any real issues which I will dive into soon.

What I believe is the main issue is that the rubber used isn’t as soft as it could be. This is great for outdoor hoops as it’ll last a while but indoor courts need a bit more flexibility within the rubber so it can firmly grip and create friction between the foot and floor.

The materials are really nice, for any position. The synthetics used are soft yet durable. Very little break in time is required with the entire upper and the fit is practically perfect as well. I personally prefer low top sneakers but if I were to choose one ‘high’ cut or mid cut sneaker’s fit and feeling the adiPower Howard is one that would automatically come to mind as being comfortable while allowing range of motion and promoting a great lockdown fit.

That’s it for now but stay tuned as I will be updating everyone again prior to the full review.

  1. Eh, traction definitely wouldnt last outdoors. On My pair, and everybody else on the team who had them, peices started chipping off after a week and thats on a wood court. They also wore away, like got ground off easily.

  2. mine are pretty good right now, and my wood floor is an awful 25 ear old floor that barely gets cleaned, and they also sell one in this colorway that is solid white rubber, but right now these are my favorite right now.
