Nike Zoom Kobe Venomenon 4 – Wolf Grey/Court Purple/Volt

Summer is a time for outdoor hoops, and The Zoom Kobe Venomenon 4 is an excellent option for that activity.

A mostly grey mesh upper, with fuse reinforcements in the toe box, this shoe has a lighter approach with accents in much bolder colors. Volt is seen on the liner, Flywire at the forefoot, and outsole, utilizing Nike’s Blade Traction, which is a durable option for outdoor ballers. The outsole sits underneath a Zoom bag in the forefoot and a nice, soft Phylon in the heel to give your feet nice impact protection along with great responsiveness.

At the moment, these have been seen available in Asia only. However, since this model has made its debut in the states this year, expect to see a US release. Thoughts on the Nike Zoom Kobe Venomenon 4? Is it a good model for you? Sound off in the comments.

  1. Picked up the Black/University Gold/Laser Crimson/Dark Grey when they dropped. These are not very comfortable shoes.

Aesthetic opinions aside, the outsole is the only good thing about these shoes extremely durable, I play outdoor 75% of the time and the traction pattern still looks new – rubber is super hard yet the traction performs really well, does great indoors as well (as you probably already know from Nightwing’s video).

The materials are stiff as hell – they feel like new shoes that never ever break in. Cushioning is ass, can’t feel the zoom in the forefoot and the heel has no tech. I made this a bit better by swapping the default foam insole with a Sofsole Airr in for more cushioning. Support isn’t great either, I used a runners loop and my heel has popped out of the shoe twice.

Obviously they built this shoe with durability in mind, but made them a bit too durable at the cost of comfort. I’d only get this shoe if you’re wearing it casually (even then it isn’t comfy), or if you’re on a budget and need a pair to last a while. I wish I could transfer the outsole of this onto my Kobe 8’s, would be the ultimate outdoor shoe!

Just wanted to give people a heads up incase they were ordering these online like myself, and don’t have a chance to try them on.

    1. Bought the same colorway as well, would have to agree with most of what you said. I love how clean the shoe looks, and I can actually feel the forefoot zoom, but after a long day of basketball, my feet are literally screaming and telling me to take these off. They hurt a lot. They’re pretty serviceable during games but the pain starts to accumulate over time. I still love the shoes, and they’re my first option for outdoor hooping, which is what I do most of the time.
