Get Up Close and Personal with the adidas D Rose 7 Primeknit

The adidas D Rose 7 has released in a couple of solid colorways, but fans of the line are most looking forward to the models that will feature Primeknit.

This is the first colorway that will release with the material, but it isn’t the last. There is a story behind this color, but I forgot what it is. Has nothing to do with the Knicks or Rose being traded to New York — these being orange was just a coincidence.

I do remember Rose telling us the story when he received the first sample version of the Rose 7. He said they featured orange branding and he thought it was weird since he’s a Bull — so red was usually used on his first run of kicks. Months later the trade happened and he just sort of took it as a sign of better things to come.

As for tech, these feature everything the regular D Rose 7 offers with the material option being Primeknit rather than engineered mesh. We’re not sure how the Primeknit is utilized as we were unable to check out a pair in-hand at the adidas LVL3 event, but we’re hoping it’s similar to the Crazy Explosive which offers 90% true Primeknit.

  1. I own/played in the black and white and they are by far my favorite Rose sig. I switch between these and the crazylight 2016

    1. It’s coming, don’t worry. Reviews take at least a week for each shoe, plus editing time. There are lots of shoes to review. The only way to really know a shoe is to play in it for at least 20 hours or more…

  2. The more I look at these, the dumber the crap on the sides look, with the overlaid panels the laces go through. Hopefully they are there for some kind of performance benefit. And the thin off color heel pull looks like an afterthought. I’m surprised so many have had positive comments on these. They look like an unfinished idea to me, not a release ready product.

    1. There is another set of lace holes underneath the “flap” (it’s like the JC3 shroud) so its not really that disconnected if that is what you’re afraid of.

The material on those though, kinda sketchy. But who knows, it might break-in nicely.

  3. I’m waiting for the smoke grey colorway to drop but it has a translucent outsole and that makes me hesitant to go for that colorway. Do you guys think the solid rubber versions will have a significant advantage over the translucent rubber versions?

  4. I saw this colorway the other day at the store and I would say that the materials are more Lillard2-esque than the prime knits on the crazy explosive. The red crazy explosive also happened to be there, and I would say that the prime knit on the crazy explosive is similar to the prime knit on the ultra boosts. at least in my humble opinion.
