Chinese footwear manufacturer Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings has offered to settle the four day long strike at their Dongguan plant. Yue Yuen has not said publicly how much it would cost to pay their employees their social-insurance and housing fund payments but an independent labor group has estimated the sum at 100 million to 200 million yuan, roughly $16 million-$32 million, depending on whether they include years of owed payments.
As many know, on Monday of this week employees at Yue Yuen’s Dongguan factory walked off the job and have been on strike since. The number of workers on strike has been estimated at around 10,000. Check out the full article from the Wall Street Journal here.
