Another Look at the adidas D Lillard 2 Aurora Borealis Edition

This upcoming All-Star Weekend will see “updates” to adidas’ Basketball lineup, one of which being the adidas D Lillard 2.

The Aurora Borealis Edition of the shoe boasts PrimeKnit along the upper, adiPrene+ midsole, and Boost in the heel. Most have been anticipating this version of the shoe over the regular version as they feel Boost in anything is an upgrade. I personally disagree.

The tooling here is the exact same as the adidas Crazy Light Boost 2015. While those were not a bad shoe by any means, I personally feel the Bounce midsole is much more comfortable — without needing alterations — than the adiPrene+ and Boost setup. PrimeKnit is the one area where I feel these excel, as the material seems to rival Nike Basketball’s version of FlyKnit. I just hope the rubber was updated to be a bit more durable than the Crazy Light; I burned through my pair within a week while only playing indoors.

  1. Adidas…. You are a fool. A stupid idiot. You came correct with with the lillard 2. Now y’all smoked some bath salts and offer up the crazy lite with the lillard upper and call it the lillard 2 ???? All star smoke crack edition? Dumb. Y’all sucking *ick for a hit? This is dumb. I’m flying out to Portland Sunday and gonna find you idiots, take you out drinking to the nearest mcmenamins spot – get you hungry for crack, meet your dealer, beat the dog shit out of him then send you overpaid idiots to rehab. Damn fools.

        1. Not sure why you guys hating on the 30..the look much better than the 29. I hope people do sleep on the 30 and it hits Clearance so I can buy a couple.

  2. The different materials again forces a ‘ranking’.

    My preference so far:

    1. Home/Away Jacquard-Woven/Bounce
    2. All Star PrimeKnit/Heel-Boost
    3. BHM/Chinese New Year Synthetic/Bounce

    1. because they’re literally just reusing CL2015 tooling. It’s an attempt to make something more “premium” while being cost effective in production.

  3. Personally, i think primeknit is way better than flyknit just by how the brands implement it on their respective basketball shoes.

  4. Fire i wish i had waited if only there was internal boost in the forefoot to bad my birthday is before Christmas

  5. I actually tried out a pair of those regular “home” versions in a store today. Man……LOVE THEM! I was one of those peeps who have been looking forward to the all star versions because of the boost. But after today…I don’t know.
Don’t get me wrong, bounce is not quite boost. But bounce is already (in my humble opinion) leaps and bounds better than some of the regular Nike “zoom” models – many times you can’t really feel the zoom anymore.
So, yeah I really love these on feet. Personally I still think the all star colorway looks fire. Hmmm decisions, decisions.

  6. Hope to have a performance review for the All star version of the Lillard 2.Cause I don’t know what to buy, if it’s the Away or the Allstar one.

  7. Boost on the forefoot and heel would be a very unstable shoe. That’s why the D Rose has a shitton of additional bracing. So no, this will never be full length boost.
