AND1 Opens its Doors in Shanghai

This isn’t your Walmart AND1. The OG’s are back in town.

While U.S. consumers will jump at the chance to make Walmart jokes, actual basketball players and fans fondly remember the first brand built for Streetball.

AND1 has been reinventing itself over the past two years and its just recently opened its own retail store in Shanghai. Filling the storefront full of its Trash Talk Tees (which are available now at AND1.com) and new footwear offerings we haven’t seen available Stateside.

There are multiple new models that I wish were available here. One is a hybrid sneaker, while one looks to pay tribute to the original AND1 Crossover and the others look like brand new designs.

It comes as no surprise that AND1 would take what it has to offer overseas. Many brands have done it as of late and have been very successful as Chinese consumers actually like new product and are willing to try it out. U.S. consumers will typically only try something new if its well below the brands retail price point which ends up killing new brands that can’t turn a profit.

Our fingers are crossed that we’ll eventually see these new AND1 models available here in the U.S.

Let us know your thoughts and if you’d be receptive to AND1 making a full comeback.
