Today, adidas Timing announced its newest offering, the Archive_M1, a timepiece inspired by the ’70s and the dawn of the digital era.
adidas Timing appears to be a new partnership with Nixon, a premium watch and accessories brand for the youth lifestyle market, that offers footwear-inspired watches with familiar styling.
The Archive_M1 watch, the introductory style, is meant to be a familiar interpretation of classic timepieces with modern construction.
The timepiece features sculpted buttons, inspired by the EVA plugs from the brand’s NMD sneakers, on a clean square watch face. The five-link 24mm stainless steel bracelet draws upon classic watch styling, and its movement is a custom module. The Archive_M1 also serves dual time zone and chronograph functions.
The adidas Timing Archive_M1 36mm is available now in limited pre-launch quantities in four colorways — All Black, Gold/Black, Rose Gold/Black, and Silver/Black/Blue/Red — for $130 at adidaswatches.com.
However, the Archive_M1 is simply the first of what adidas Timing has coming. Launching globally in February of 2018, the brand will drop three more ranges inspired by the adidas Originals collection.
An exclusive run of the limited edition Archive_CM1, which uses a thin ceramic coating in charcoal, is limited to 200 pieces and retails for $180. It was debuted at ComplexCon and is available now at colette in Paris until the boutique’s close on December 20 and in the New York, Chicago, London, and Paris adidas Originals stores.
This isn’t adidas’ first foray into watches; there are several watches available on adidas.com now, and the brand has been making watches for performance and style off and on for decades.
