adidas SPEEDFACTORY Finally Produces New Sneaker, the AM4 for London

If you live in the U.S. don’t get your hopes up — we aren’t getting anything until 2018.

adidas’ SPEEDFACTORY in Ansbach, Germany, has launched its first major project. The adidas AM4 series is the beginning of a journey adidas is making to big cities all over the world.

Beginning with the adidas Made For London, the AM4LDN is made specifically for London with insights offered by a group of London runners and influencers. The same localized approach will be applied in the coming months to five more key cities: Paris, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

According to adidas, the AM4 is a lightweight and far more sustainable product than what the brand has produced thus far, but that is about all the brand has said regarding the sneaker’s technical specifications. It clearly rides atop a Boost midsole, but there is no word on the upper.

The SPEEDFACTORY allows for the creation of bespoke product informed by athlete data. The brand says that the Ansbach SPEEDFACTORY is now fully operational, and the Atlanta factory — which we’ve been hearing about for years — should be up and running “soon.”

“The SPEEDFACTORY story is bigger than one product,” said Paul Gaudio, adidas Global Creative Director, in a statement. “It is really an enabler for speed, precision and responsiveness. Ultimately SPEEDFACTORY will allow us to co-create unique product solutions based on individual athlete needs and desires – delivering what they want, when and where they want it.”

The AM4LDN will launch on October 26, although no release details have been announced. The AM4PAR will follow the London sneaker, but customers will have to wait until 2018 for the releases of the Los Angeles (AM4LA), New York (AM4NYC), Tokyo (AM4TKY) and Shanghai (AM4SHA) editions.

adidas says to stay tuned toadidas.com/Speedfactory but the page cannot be found.
