The adidas Iniki Has Been Renamed the I-5923, Will Release in Two Limited Colorways

A fan-favorite off-court model this year has been the adidas Iniki Runner. It’s blend of old school aesthetics and modern tech has gotten it renamed to the I-5923.

According to adidas, the shoe is now named after one of the articles in the adidas archive and it, like the Iniki, draws design inspiration from classic ’70s runners.

The adidas Originals I-5923 uses a knitted mesh upper with premium suede overlays at the heel, toewrap, and eyestays. The serrated 3-stripes branding is still present, as is the full-length Boost midsole. Gum bottoms have been added for these limited releases.

The adidas Originals I-5923 will see a limited release in Crystal White and Core Red on December 1. adidas has not said whether the sneaker’s price will change with its name.

The adidas Iniki Runner is available now in several colorways on Eastbay.com for $120 (and a couple colorways are on sale for $100).

  1. the iniki is an incredible looking sneaker but it’s not a nice sneaker to wear, the fit is really strange and that space between the mesh and the suede toebox feels odd to say the least….suffice to say that it’s a pair of shoes that constantly reminds you that you’re wearing a pair of shoes…..not a good look when you’re looking for a pair of shoes for casual use

  2. Fan of the Iniki Runner. NOT a fan of the fit. NOT a fan of the new Adidas I-5923 R2D2 C3PO …

Besides the pronunciation (i’ni-ki? i’n-yi-ki?) INIKI already has a badass meaning to it.
