It’s that time of year again: Under Armour has revealed its upcoming fall and winter 2016 collections. The brand has a few new things planned for footwear, including a few new silhouettes like the Slingride (not the recently released Slingshot), Amp, and Core, and is focusing on growing all of its footwear lines.
Textures are a huge part of what UA is building on. The Slingride, for instance, will feature knit uppers, mesh uppers that appear to be knits, polka dot uppers, fade uppers, etc. The Under Armour Slingride ($120) is similar to the Slingshot, minus the Pebax plate, and will feature Speedform, a one piece upper, Charged cushion, and lightweight construction. It’s a long distance runner and thus, in UA’s Run Long category.
The brand new Under Armour Bandit 2 (in men’s and women’s) is a departure from the Bandit 1. Keeping it’s excellent $99 price point, the shoe features a knit-like upper that is actually a mesh. New textures like heathers will be coming to this silhouette. Cushioning is MicroG at the forefoot and Charged at the heel.
The Under Armour Amp is a new training style that has Piet Mondrian-like colorblocking and a stable flat base that is probably best for the gym. It’s launching for both women and men and is reminiscent of the UA Spine that launched a while back. Charged cushioning is present as well, which makes sense as it isn’t as bouncy as MicroG.
New silhouettes like the Under Armour Charged Phenom 2 and the Under Armour Drift RN (which features an awesome Clutchfit upper) expand the existing lines. New Studio shoes are coming, in low and mid cuts for both the wearer’s preference and to accommodate different classes.
The Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2 got a bit of an update with new mesh and tweaks at the toebox to enhance the fit. It retains the two piece Charged cushion and according to UA, the Gemini will be the only silhouette to be UA Record equipped. Most of the shoes pictured will be launching around July 1, so keep that in mind.
I think that I caught a glimpse of the Speedform Gemani 2 in the left of the first photo
Think those are the Fortis 2’s top left. Gemini 2’s are the black and green shoes top center.
Those Drift RN’s remind me of a nike presto model, from that angle at least
Agreed, I think they are positioned as a comfortable workout/casual shoe
Charged phenoms look like cp3s heavy the first shoe with the knit in red is really nice might make those my first uas
I hate to say it but I don’t like anything here. The UA logo needs to be better integrated into the design.
Agreed, much like the nike logo, it’s just “slapped on”
RS I feel you. The placement reminds me of New Balance’s shoes, Just stamped right in the middle of the shoe out of necessity. Adidas was like that too but wised up a few years ago and started getting creative with the stripe placements.
I think I saw the Speedform Fortis 2 in the top left of the first picture.
the UA logo looks good on the achilles but that is about the only spot it really works, maybe on top of the toe box too
