Re-Imagining adidas Classics with Boost

The adidas Drop-In Boost Midsole Concept

 adidas Boost Drop in midsole

Reimagining adidas Classics with Boost -1Nike has utilized the drop in midsole concept in their most recent high performance models such as the Nike Kobe 9, LeBron 11, and Nike Free Hyperfeel. It would be awsome if adidas considered using the same concept with a drop-in boost midsole. This way, it can be implemented in a variety of adidas Originals lifestyle models. The drop in midsole concept would allow the aesthetics of any adidas classic model to remain unchanged, but make them current by revamping its cushion setup.

Reimagining adidas Classics with Boost -2adidas mainstays such as the adidas Originals Superstar (A.K.A the “Shell Toes”) would benefit from the drop in Boost midsole, as it would retain its classic look while suddenly becoming “modern” with the revolutionary Boost foam setup. These rubber cup-soles are easy to hollow out and place a Boost midsole inside so tooling wouldn’t need to be revamped completely. Retro models such as the Top Ten Hi, and the Mutumbo 2, could be brought back to life, and possibly see a bigger prescience in both the casual lifestyle & on-court scene with a drop in Boost midsole attached.

adidas Basketball Athletes talk #Boost-5

adidas finally has everyone’s attention with Boost. Implementing Boost into adidas basketball classics, as well as popular models from adidas Originals, could gain greater appreciation for the brands Originals and heritage without compromising their look too greatly. For adidas to truly be all in, they might want to consider this simple upgrade as it could significantly impact their competitiveness with other brands on and off the court.

How would you feel if you saw Boost in something a little more nostalgic? It’d be an instant upgrade, bringing a classic directly into the modern era of tech.

  1. I’m waiting for the day Adidas does a drop in boost midsoles. I personally would love to see this concept put into their Tour 360 and AdiZero golf shoes. With cushion being much more important than most people realize in golf I would expect both models with drop in midsoles to be to be very successful

  2. Oh they are trying to really hit Nike in the pockets…if boost is as good as NW has me believing….WATCH OUT NIKE!!!! JB CAN’T SAVE YOU NOW!

  3. Done….no more kicks till I get to put my feet in the Rose 5, if this crap is that good, I don’t need anymore 150-225 dollar paper weights that won’t get any playing time.

  4. Wow!!it’s like their Pure Motion system were all their new BB shoes have this system..i wonder if they will put a boost in crazyquick??hope in crazyquick3..
    PureMotion+Boost i cant imagined…

  5. i liked this type of article they should just drop in insoles on all models from here on out could help them alot, i would assume kanyes shoes would have boost

  6. Love this post man, well done. Did you do the editing on all the photos with the boost foam?

In regards to discussion of the Boost insole, everybody loves the idea but that would get rid of the absolute necessity of buying adidas shoes in order to experience the boost feeling…probably won’t happen anytime soon.

    Again good stuff!

    1. I did do all the editing of the photos!

The drop-in midsole would only be for classic models, nothing contemporary. The idea was to allow more comfort with boost without changing the aesthetics of a model that made it classic in the first place. Of course their new models wouldn’t feature the boost foam drop in midsole, and you wouldn’t be able to put it in a shoe that wasn’t built for a drop in midsole setup.

    2. Not insoles, midsoles. Like the Kobe 7-9. You wouldn’t be able to place them in another shoe bc they’d be made to fit the hollowed out rubber cup sole on the shoe they’re meant for. Wouldn’t be able to pull a drop-in midsole out of the superstar and put it in a Kobe 8… shapes of the midsoles are way off.

      1. I think it is pretty pointless to put a drop-in midsole or outsole. the Boost has clearly become the ideal cushion setup that people are after and I dont think a combination of EVA+Boost, ADIPRENE/+ and Boost would work as well as what Nike is doing with their different cushion techs.

personally, Adidas may have come to a halt for now that the changes it has to do are more on aesthetics and outsoles. or they could invent a new cushion. invent a futuristic outsole that would make you stick to the wall like spiderman.

personally, Adidas need to improve their aesthetics. the Roses and CL’s for example are just very identical that it wouldn’t matter what or which one you are wearing as they don’t look different. although the 5’s gave me something to be happy about. including the RG3’s. these are the two shoes that are on my must-buy list.

  7. If the crazyquicks had boost they’d be the best shoe of life. The silhouette of the CrazyQuick just screams Boost.

  8. Man if they put boost in the adipower howard 2 i would be going crazy i mean those were amazing then i would also get the crazy 8 boost as well

As I recall Nightwing when the adipower Howard 2 released u said is was your favorite performing sneaker for that year and I also remember you saying that the traction would get better the faster u ran and the colorway u had was the all star cw

  9. whats with the midsole reference? its kinda nike-esque

remember the TS Commanders select System? its just an insole with adiprene inserts… methinks its more fitting (since theyre both adidas)

in any case, imagine a boost-ed out of these bad boys >.<

    1. Nah, Flyknit hasn’t stopped them from Primeknit, Fuse hasn’t stopped them from SprintWeb etc. Boost won’t be as effective if its just an insole. Unless Nike has patented the drop-in midsole idea then it’s fair game.

      1. i forgot the numbers, but the thickness of these insoles are almost the same as the forefoot boost of the supernova glide 6… what ive been trying to say is that the insoles are more doable than creating a design straight from nikes book

  10. One more month till we get our hands on D Rose 5,

Can’t wait to try a full length boost on a BBall shoe…..exciting ^^

So right now there’s only 2 Bball shoes confirmed with boost right?
The Crazylight boost worn by Lillard and the Drose5 worn by Rose,

Any word on a Crazyquick with Boost? that’s one super Shoe….Yesss!!
