BrandBlack J Crossover 2.5 Low | Detailed Look and Review

BrandBlack launched the J Crossover 2.5 Low in three colorways and two of the three sold out pretty quickly. So quickly that I was unable to grab the pair I was anticipating.

Luckily, BAIT had received their stock so I purchased them as soon as I saw them available. If you wanted a detailed look and review of the BrandBlack J Crossover 2.5 Low, along with performance review information on the low top version of the shoe, then you’ve come to the right place.

Enjoy the detailed look below, and let us know if you plan on grabbing a pair.

  1. I wish BrandBlack made stuff for the blacktop. Their products are just AWESOME and super comfy! Had the JC3’s and I loved the hell outta those but I’m an outdoor player and unfortunately for me they didn’t last that long. If they somehow found a way to use more durable rubber on the outsoles, I’d be using nothing but BrandBlack for the rest of my life!

    1. Depends what you are looking for in a shoe but to me the JC 2.5 Mid is *by far* the best BB release yet and I have had all their hoops models except the JC1.

The lows I imagine perform pretty similarly I just generally generally buy mids given the option. I tried them on and they fit nicely at the heel.

Traction is very similar, blade pattern and updated with a thicker, tackier compound. To me the JC 2.5 is a bit more durable. Many have said they had issues playing outdoors with the rare metal. My JC 2.5 have held up great and give me that beautiful squeak sound plus tons of bite, even outdoors!

Cushioning is also pretty similar, NW seemed to feel the RM rode lower but to me there was very little difference and I liked the feel of the JC2 more, not a lot more but enough to notice.

The biggest difference in my opinion is the fit/support/containment/materials. If you want a softer, more plush fit, get the RM. If you want total containtment, support and better materials, get the JC 2.5. I feel like the JC 2.5 is an extension of my foot, period. There is a little dead space at the edge of the shoe but you can’t feel it while you’re playing. To me the RM had a sloppier fit, but for casual wear I imagine it would be kind of nice (much like the JC2 was). I am not a big Jacquard guy but that’s a matter of preference, of course.
