adidas D Rose 5 and Crazylight Boost – Boost for Basketball

Today adidas officially announced the next step in their basketball lineup, Boost foam.

The ultra-plush cushion that changed running shoes in 2013, is now the favorite midsole material of adidas basketball athletes. adidas launched the D Rose 5 and Crazylight Boost 4 in Las Vegas with the help of adidas athletes Derrick Rose and Damian Lillard. Lillard also announced that his Crazylight Boost PE will release on September 1st for $140 and the D Rose 5 is set to release on October 16th for $160.

Personally I can’t wait to play in Boost mode, how about you? Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and stay tuned to WearTesters.com for any of your performance needs.

  1. I guess D Rose comes with full length Boost, while Crazy Light has Boost on the heel only?
Either way both of them look pretty good, though I wish Adidas releases a new Tim Duncan signature shoe with boost.

    1. That’s what I’m still interested in finding out. Does the Crazy light only have Boost in the heel? It looks like it but I want to be sure.

      1. The crazy light does have Boost in the heel (confirmed by prior posts), but the Rose looks like full length, but who knows?

  2. Top right (Black/Cement/Red) Rose looks like it might be a must buy for me. I’m just scared they might be $170+. I like the Rose model much more than the Crazy Lights. I still think they should offer the boost foam in colors other than white. It’s an amazing cushion system but it looks like styrofoam.

  3. The D Rose 5.0 is full length boost, releases on October 16th and will cost $160. The Crazy Light Boost 4 releases August 1st, will cost $140, and features heel boost only. Hope this helps.

    1. I wonder if they would sell them in my city lol, my city banned styrofoam… and I have an adidas outlet lol

  4. So Lilllard will be wearing the CrazyLight next season,

does this mean there’s no more Crazyquick 3?

or we haven’t seen there full lineup of boost bball shoes, and the Crazylight and Rose are just the starters…..

    1. CrazyQuick and CrazyFast doesn’t release until about the second half of the season. I read that Lillard is going to wear the Crazylight for the first half of the season.

    1. Kinda true. It’s cool that adidas actually let rose put his logo on the shoe. The cement ones are str8 fire for me.

      1. The collar heights/shapes are different as well.. So you may be correct. But why would they unveil the 5.5 already?

  5. Excited for the DAME crazylight boost PE but……not excited that it’ll be until Sept release. :sigh:
Are we also gonna get the all red crazylight DAME PE?

  6. I’ll be a critique and say:

If the basketball boost foam is anything like the running boost foam, it is far too soft to be practical. It will not have the responsive properties of firmer foams. I have boost running shoes, they are comfortable, sure, but imagining playing basketball on a similar foam set up does not sound appealing to me unless they change it just a tad. Nike, for example doesn’t put the same airmax in their running shoes as they do in their basketball shoes. They increase the PSI of the airbag to make it firmer for basketball. I hope adidas does something similar to this. A high-density boost foam sounds like a great idea.
