After Nike’s unveiled its Tech Knit just a few days ago, adidas has debuted its adistar Wool Primeknit apparel. Using the excellent fit and construction of Primeknit in adidas’ tees is, in my opinion, just the beginning.
Although pricey — both the men’s and women’s adistar Wool Primeknit tees are $70 — I believe it will be significantly less cheaper than Nike’s Tech Knit that is designed in a similar fashion. The tees have visible and strategic sections of Primeknit to disperse and vent heat. The women’s tees actually look much more interesting — the Primeknit venting weave encompasses almost all of the tee, save for the very bottom and sleeves.
adidas says the adistar Wool Primeknit apparel features climalite fabric that wicks sweat from the skin, breathable, flexible, seamless warp-knit adidas Primeknit, and PrimaLoft insulation for warmth even in wet conditions. Additionally, tubular near-seamless construction, flatlock seams that reduce chafing and skin irritation, and reflective details add to the feature list. The make up of this apparel is 39% wool, 35% polyester, and 26% seamless nylon.
It was only a matter of time before Nike and adidas brought their knit technologies to their respective apparel lines. However, UA has been doing apparel since its inception, and although it doesn’t have a proprietary knit technology, UA has been making clothing out of performance materials for quite some time.

Adidas in straight attack mode I see. Knit being a prominent texture makes these stylish in their own right.

is Nike gonna sue adidas for the tech similarity over apparel and shoes?
Am I seeing things or are these clothes the same primeknit shirts Adidas came out with a few years ago? Not to say they are recycling their own design but I own a long sleeve primeknit shirt and absolutely love it. From what I see in the pics, nothing has changed (which is great) but I find it funny that primeknit is NOW making a splash. I got my shirt about 2.5 years ago so for anyone that says Nike should sue Adidas…give it a break. Also, for anyone interested in the line, they are “fitted” – not compression and not loose. They huge the skin but not too tightly. Absolutely one of the best shirts I’ve ever owned. Get it!
Yeah, I’ve seen primeknit t-shirts and even jackets before but I guess they are pushing it more right now and marketing it because of nike’s tech knit.
