Under Armour and Dwayne Johnson Launch ‘Project Rock’ JBL Wireless Headphones

Today, Under Armour and JBL have dropped the ‘Project Rock’ UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones. The on-ear headphones are designed for Dwayne Johnson’s grueling workouts.

In 2016, Under Armour and JBL created the Curry 3 Headphone, a sleek and minimal wireless headset that combined UA’s fitness tracking technology with JBL’s sound. Now, the technology brands have collaborated for their biggest project yet.

The UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones have been weartested by The Rock himself and engineered specifically for his training sessions — both in and out of the gym. The headphone cups are built to stay on the ear with an anti-slip sweat resistant liner, the set is rated IPX4 (which offers dust protection from objects larger than 1mm and protection from a splash of water in any direction for at least five minutes), and the headphones come in a durable protective case. Additionally, the breathable Supervent ear cushions should remain dry, and they’re removable for easy cleaning.

Under Armour claims that the UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones will allow wearers to power through on entire week of workouts — 16 hours — on a single charge. A quick five-minute charge should also give you enough juice for a whole hour of playback. To make the controls intuitive, in the gym or wherever wearers want to work out, the headphones feature bigger buttons for easy pause, play, and volume adjustment.

At $250, the UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones should deliver premium sound. That is what JBL promises with its “Charged Sound” so expect rich bass to help you crush your workout. The Talk-Thru technology, which allows wearers to talk to training partners without taking the headphones off, offers the convenience of open-back headphones with on-ear cups.

To celebrate the launch of the ‘Project Rock’ UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones, Dwayne Johnson has curated a unique Spotify playlist called “Iron Paradise Airwaves.” It includes hard-hitting tracks like “Erybody But Me” (Tech N9ne, Bizzy, and Krizz Kaliko), “Chun-Li” (Nicki Minaj), “Rocky Mountain Way” (Godsmack), and People’s Elbow (Migos). The full tracklist is featured below.

Finally, the limited-edition ‘Project Rock’ headphones drop today alongside Project Rock ‘Chase Greatness’ apparel and footwear. The UA Project Rock 1, Dwayne Johnson’s first signature shoe (which saw an instant sell-out last month), has made also made its global debut.

The UA Sport Wireless Train Headphones ‘Project Rock Edition’ are available now in limited quantities at UA.com and select Brand Houses for $250. The UA Project Rock 1 retails for $120 and is available now at Eastbay.com. In July, the inline non-Rock branded version of these headphones will go on sale with slightly different tuning.

  1. Do you know the exact release date of the non-rock headphones? I don’t care about the rock brand, I just want gym headphones which are available unlimited and globally

    1. UA has not updated me with an exact date but keep an eye on the site because the headphones will drop inline without Rock branding (which, hopefully, will make the set a bit less expensive). Should drop this month.
