The Nike LeBron 16 to Release in a MPLS Edition

The Nike LeBron 16 pays tribute to the Minneapolis Lakers.

A colorway I never thought I’d see on a LeBron James sneaker, this upcoming LBJ16 pays tribute to the old Minneapolis Lakers days.

This theme has always been my favorite when it was used on the Kobe signature series, and it just elevated the LeBron 16 — although, I already love the shoe so that isn’t saying much. However, it made this LeBron 16 a must cop whereas I’ve been waiting to run into them at an outlet before I buy another pair.

I’m still not fond of the giant lion head on the heel panels but it’s not a deal breaker. Additionally, I’m not liking the way they layered the LBJ logo on the tongue with the giant “LJ16” under it. But everything else looks fantastic: the multi-colored paint splatter on the Max Zoom Air units and the multi-colored outsole — all I find to look beautiful sitting alongside the grey BattleKnit 2.0 upper.

If you’re enjoying this colorway as much as I am, then you’ll be able to grab a pair beginning April 19 for $185.

  1. Really liking this colourway, can’t go wrong with MPLS colours. As per usual though, the price and the fact I play only outdoors gets in the way of me getting these for playing.

  2. Not a great MPLS colorway, it’s kinda terrible how Nike, and the NBA are trying too hard to sell LeBron, it’s reducing his actual performance(because LeBron is great, he’s not the GOAT, but he is great) and once he retires that will be consensus, beyond the forced-hype. The forced-hype is rubbing me the wrong way though, it’s making me dislike LeBron, not because of LeBron, but because of Adam Silver manipulating the league, and Nike pushing ‘stories’ way too hard.
